One of the best examples of Baroque-style architecture, this splendid blue and white "Sailors' Church" topped with five glistening golden cupolas contains many 18th-century icons, ten magnificent paintings and walls that convey the history of the Russian navy.

We had a tour photo stop outside the cathedral. At the time there was a ceremony where a group with priests walk around the outside and mark each side of the church with incense and holy water. As a result we did not go inside....More

Not as fancy as other cathedrals here but if you arrive at the right time (11am I believe) you will witness the service and the beautiful choirs, unforgettable!

Not quite as imposing as some of the others, but this was a working church, not a museum. The separate bell tower is famous and unusual.

This is one of the few Russian Orthodox churches that remained active during the Soviet period. We arrived on a Sunday morning, cautioned we could attend quietly. A cantor was singing the service while a choir sang in response. It was very moving and showed...More

Built in a western style with an opulent interior. Well worth seeing, just for the free standing bell tower with its golden spire.
