Glad that it was a short performance and that our guide explained the story to us beforehand; the puppets are kinda small on the screen, so a bit difficult to make out the story. A bit of history.

It is a structure like any other and was good for pics but we didn't think much of the shadow play. The whole thing was in Mandarin and there was no explanation beforehand (which was probably our guides fault) as to what the story line...More

This original old house located near the end of the Muslim Quarter is well worth a visit. An interesting place to visit if you are in the Muslim Quarter and have a little time free. You won't need much time to explore, but worth it.

We stumbled across the Gao Courtyard House as we were exploring the Muslim Quarter. Its highly recommended for a short detour and I think is one of the last remaining courtyard houses inside the City Walls

It would be easy to walk past the narrow entranceway and miss this ancient house and with its strong sense of yesteryear. But we were glad to have entered and sensed how well-to-do families centuries ago lived and developed. The courtyards and reliefs in wood...More

We were with a private tour guide and admission to this area was included in our tour. Even with a guide, there wasn't much to see, a courtyard and some non -descript rooms of an upper class official. Others mentioned having tea, we didn't get...More
