My wife and 11 y/o son made the 9 mile revolution on bikes without too much of an issue. Wind picked up on one of the legs but made it through. Stopped for ice cream which helped. I would say this is a must-do if...More
I was so impressed with the grandeur and condition of the Xi’an City wall. It is quite easy to access the wall top for an interesting view of the city and great exercise. Mountain Bikes can be rented at the wall for a ride on...More
Cathy was the most amazing tour guide! She was extremely professional, personable and friendly, and her English is impeccable. We learned a tremendous amount about China’s and Xi’an’s histories, as well as something about our family tree. She provided numerous personalized dining and tour options,...More
It's a high long wall with occasional old closed Chinese houses built into the wall - reasonable views of modern city around the wall. Good if you can bike along it but a lot of steep steps to get on and off the wall.
A nice way to see the Old City from above. Total distance around is 14 km. You can cycle or walk. We walked about an hour of it. Several brides and groom were ther for pre wedding photos. One side of the wall you see...More
The sheer scale of the old city’s walls, all 14 kms of them is almost unbelievable. Generally 40 feet high and 40+ feet wide at the top and 50+ feet wide at the bottom. It’s amazing that the city has managed to protect them to...More
We cycled round the walls. It’s 14 km and a really easy cycle. It took us 2 hours but we had to meet someone . Doable but you should preferably leave 3 hours.
Lots of info on plaques all the way round . Lots of...More
I would highly recommend that you bike this. Super easy, you pick the bike up at the South Gate. The wall is flat, and fun to ride. All the way around is 10 miles. It is very cool to contrast the old and the new...More

Yes, you can rent helmets when you rent your bike. You need a cash deposit to rent the helmets and bikes. I didn’t rent a helmet and it was ok. The wall can get busy with all the bikes but it is a fairly smooth ride.
Once you leave you cannot renter. It’s very inexpensive to get in around 8 US dollars. I would recommend renting the bikes it’s a lot of fun and you can ride at your own pace. Stopping and viewing the city it’s beautiful.
