This museum is well-located next to the Chenghuang tourist site on Wushan. It is free and has modern, well presented exhibits, plus free wifi. Wander up or down the many levels. I read about the stamp exhibit, and was skeptical, but as predicted by another TA reviewer, I found it fun. A perfect break on a sweltering day. Enjoy the... More

Nice museum that tells the story of Hangzhou, beautiful ceramics and artifacts from its long history. The museum has two buildings connected by a bridge. The odd thing is that both museums tell the story of the city from Stone Age to modern Hangzhou. They did not put the first half in one and the second in the other building.... More

Staff friendly, museum spotless, free entry, and the exhibits also in English. Much to see here, and definitely worth a visit if you enjoy your history and cultural artifacts.

The museum is filled with many ancient artifacts found on one of the earliest known sites of Hangzhou. One can see clusters of old coins, jade carvings, old wood items, and more. It was a very interesting experience (as a foreigner) even though the history didn't touch me as directly as someone from China or Hangzhou even. I would recommend... More

It's located in Qinghefang and there is a big "silk city shopping not far", a good visit in the afternoon, then you can walk in the old city street, climb the Wu hill or go to the nearby street food. The museum is free and close at 5 pm.... More

I have been to this museum many time. It's around Wushan. It's a great place to learn about Hangzhou culture.Quite a good museum, and excellent environment. However, Tour guides usually take tourists to Wushan at night, because of the night market. As a tourist, you may lose your chance to visit such an interesting museum. So you have to visit... More
