These gardens covered a huge area, of which we only covered about a third of! They were very pretty, with a lake area and pavilion cafe area.

Large garden area and if you walked some relatives;y few people! Many local birds in foliage including Red Billed Blue Magpies. Himalayan Black Bulbul. Hill Blue Flycatcher. Most quiet area in all of Hangzhou.

Although few flowers were in bloom in our mid-May visit, the surroundings are peaceful and beautifully landscaped. A very attractive museum of contemporary artist Han Meiling is in the heart of the botanical garden. He does paintings, calligraphy, sculpture and anything else you can imagine....More

Hangzhou Botanical Garden was very large spacewise but not having many flowers inside. There were water ponds, pavilions, promenades, restaurants and tree/vegetarian corners around. Nice to spend half a day inside to escape from the noisy city environment.

We haven't visited in winter, but our daughter-in-law says it could be quite cold, with possible snow. The botanical garden will not be crowded, and it might be quite beautiful in winter, but the best time would be Spring... More

We used a taxi. Taxis are really cheap in Hangzhou. Geographically, it is on the west side of the West lake (Hangzhou) .
