I can recommend this location for a beautiful park-like setting and sakura viewing, even in mid-May. We hoped to see the cherry blossoms this late in Hokkaido since it was still relatively cool, but found them hard to find until we stumbled onto this property. The sakura was profuse and beautiful, as were the grounds. Worth seeing as part of... More

Built in 1888, the former Hokkaido Government Office Building is one of Hokkaido's most famous buildings at the heart of Sapporo. With its red brick walls, it stands out among Sapporo's more modern buildings.

It's a must see if you're nearby and want to sit for a while and just catch your breath. Great pond with colorful Japanese koi carps, so be sure to step away from the front of the building after taking your pics and explore the gardens around you.

One of the reasons we visited Hokkaido early May is to catch the last of the Cherry Blossoms season in Japan. However, most of the places we visited have just a few of the blooms left, including Hokkaido Shrine ( more details in my other review of this place... We decided to drop by the Former Government Office on our... More

We encountered this building on our walk through the grid of Sapporo. It was early March 2017 so there was much snow on the ground. The building was a nice red brick building and the snow made it even nicer. The ponds surrounding were frozen over and there was a lot of snow built up around the trees. It was... More

Short walk from JR Sapporo station. Free admission. 2 lines of cherry blossom trees right after main entrance. Small park but enough colors to lift up your mood.

I stopped by here while moving from Sapporo station to hotel nearby Odori park. This place has beautiful old building and some cherry blossom tree. I think you need to visit here when cherry blossom tree has flower. Anyhow it is worth visiting here for a moment.
