Been to Jozankei town - Hoheikyo Onsen. The open onsen overseeing the snowy night sky with trees were simply spectacular. The only regret was we were there by evening & the last bus depart to town was 1950hrs …should have spend at least half a day, have meal & take our own sweet time to bath in that miracle water,... We visited for one night after a week in Niseko (bus to Kutchan, train to Sapporo, bus to JO). One night was fun, but not sure if you could really spend much longer there in winter. Snowed A LOT which was beautiful, but difficult to get around. We visited a few shrines and public foot spas. The onsen at our... More

We visited the onset in the Jozankei View Hotel based on a handy information sheet from the information centre detailing cost, opening times and towel availability. The view from the outdoor pools was just stunning. Within easy driving distance of both Sapporo and the airport.

Very nice town with beautiful scenery, a lot of public foot baths, a bit difficult to find a restaurant that still have seats for us.

The location of the hotel is in the outskirts but the hotel is spacious and very clean. The room is very Japanese very comfortable and clean. Buffet dinner was very good as the spread offered was Japanese and western.

Seemed this place is famous for onsen and the trip is well worth it, if only to experience the myriads of onsen there. The hotel we booked has huge onsen overlooking the river behind it. It being close to spring, the snow starts thawing and sky, crystal clear. We get the snow, minus the extreme cold. Wearing yukata makes the... More

My first onsen expirience went smoothly as every guy is naked and follow what others do. Rule of thumb for first timer is don't immerse in the onsen for more than 10 minutes and rest 5 minutes follow by going into jakuzzi or sauna or open baths .. Finally ,it's an experience well spent with Y 1000 inclusive if towels... More

Hokkaido Jozankei like Sapporo's garden,we set off from Sapporo just cost you around an hour bus way. And Jozankei Onsen is a shrine for hot springs. It may be so remote for traveler. But don’t worry, there is some special bus for tourists there. I heard that we can see the famous and attractive maple near Toyohira Gorge Reservoir. But it... More

Only an hours trip from Sapporo we stayed two nights and loved it. A small hot springs town set in the mountains it is very easy to walk around and learn it's history from when the Monk Jozan Miizumi found it in his travels and relized it's worth , people have been coming here to bathe in these natural hot...
