It is the last stop of the bus from Sapporo station. It takes a little over one hour to get there and the first bus leaves at 10:00 am on May. I don't know if it changes throughout the year. The trip is really worth it. The water feels nice, the bath is beautiful and it wasn't crowded. The food... More

I've read a lot of reviews before visiting Hoheikyo Onsen, it is quite a bus ride to the outskirt of Sapporo, however, it's truly worth the visit. The outdoor baths are simply amazing, when I was visiting in early April, it was still snowing so it was just perfection. Don't really understand the concept of the Indian cuisine served at... More

I've always wanted to go to a nice onsen that was tattoo friendly. I have a tattoo that covers half my arm, another one that is on the other arm, and a big on that covers a quarter of my back. Cover up is not really an option. Also, it was hard to confirm which ones would allow this, as... More

Not easy to get to but if you manage, it would be worth the trip. Other have shared much on how to do this so do your research well. Pro #1 - very Japanese. Well used but it's really the locals bath. Very very few foreigner tourists. Pro #2 - bath water does not smell unlike the ones visited in... More

Visited this onsen in February 2017, and I must say that this was one of the best onsens I visited during my trip in Japan! Very traditional, very rustic, great authentic feel. Front desk was friendly and helpful with acceptable command of English (not broken), and they give you helpful tips and advise. Here's some pointers I would like to... More

You will so fall in love with this onsen, it was so beautiful during winter! Glad that we chose this onsen using the Jozankei onsen package ticket, instead of other newer but commercialized onsen resorts . If you are looking for authentic onsen experience, do go with this a bit old facility which was mostly frequented by locals. Be prepared,... More

This onsen experience was awesome! Sitting outside and being able to look about at the snow covered landscape is really peaceful. It even flurried a teeny bit while I was outside but you don't feel cold at all. It's actually quite refreshing to enjoy the cool outdoor air and hot bath at the same time. There are 3 indoor baths... More

I would like to highlight my experience dining at this Onsen Shokudo (dinning hall) recently on 26 Dec 2016, 12 noon. This is what happened:- 1. I entered their onsen dinning hall while my husband and son were parking the car. There were 2 males, who were wearing long sleeve shirts, standing infront of the cashier counter. There were no...
