We visited Maruyama Zoo during winter on January. the Biggest zoo in Sapporo. They have a mini cafe, souvenirs shop near the entrance. Many animals to see here, we spent like 2 hours walking around. I love to see the Chimpanzee and Polar bear. it...More

I always had an image of Maruyama Zoo being a small little attraction in the shadow of Asahiyama, but it holds its own! It's definitely much larger than it appears. In particular, a lot of the exhibits are made with indoor and outdoor parts equally,...More

We visited this zoo during winter with continuous snow fall. The most favourite one was the wolves. There was a pair of wolves on display, moving around before us, they were so cute. The other one that amazed us was the polar bear. This zoo...More

I really enjoyed visiting the Zoo, but it was very cold. Good time to come because not very crowded and you can see the animals upfront. Wish the zoo was more bigger and more outdoor looking. I felt bad for the animals being in big...More

Fair amount of animals to see. The zoo isn't too big so it's easy to get around. My main concern is the animals look a bit malnourished and bored. A lot of them walk back and forth in the same pattern which I don't think...More

Good zoo, although some animals seemed to be missing - perhaps because it was winter. Otherwise, nice place, good location.

A pretty small zoo, but kinda interesting Most of the animals are kept indoors over winter so it means you can get up pretty close compared to a normal zoo. Not somewhere I would go to Sapporo especially to visit but a good way to...More

The zoo is fun with lot of close-up animal views and they are so cuuuuute! The size of the zoo is not large but there are plenty of exhibition centers you can explore. Great place for couples and family. Definitely a must-go in Sapporo.

A mid-size traditional zoo, caging and confining animals. It was so sorry to see creatures such as kangaroos crowded in a small cage. Also should keep watch for crows in the air. They will dive at people and rob your food.
