Great Jingu

Had a very nice walk to the Jingu although the ground was covered in snow. Very peaceful as there were few people.

A beautiful, old, forest surrounds the main entrance of the shrine and it is a peaceful place. Lots of people buy the Hello Kitty amulet as a souvenir.

This is a beautiful park to walk around any time of the year. The shrine is large and pretty but generally about the same as the rest of them. There are little shrines spread out on the grounds which are very charming. Next to the main shrine there is a sweets shop where I had an amazing pastry made from... More

Visited this place on our way back from Ishiya Choco Factory. Just alight at Maruyama Koen Station. 5 mins walk from station, and you will reach the place Visited the place during snow fall and at 5 Pm when the sun was setting. Very quiet but very serene.

Located within the park. Short walk from nearest subway station. If driving, parking is free for 1st hour. Park at the most northern carpark of the park to walk the shortest to the Shrine itself. Peaceful in the late afternoon early evening when the tourists crowd thins out. Crowded in the morning. Shrine closed at 4pm during winter. Amulets makes... More

Out of the Sapporo city, It's a good break to feel the peace and trying a Japanese pray in a traditional temple. Make sure to leave time for a leisure walk in Maruyama Park too : )

Hokkaido shrine was very beautiful. Also it's a very nice and relaxing walk through Maruyama Park to get to the park. Definitely worth a visit! I went there on a clear winter day, which was very enjoyable, but I hope to visit again in spring or summer some day.
