Just an FYI that the cable car and ropeway are closed and will reopen on Saturday, 03/04/17. If you're going to Kobe, maybe consider sticking around the harbor area near Kobe station instead of going all the way to Shin Kobe.

There are many ways to get to Mt Maya but the simplest one is taking the gondola near Shinkobe (Bullet train station) and once at the top hike to Mt Maya. The path is quite straight forward and it will take between one to two hours of mild hike to get to Mt Maya. The view from Mt Maya is... More

With four adults walking at a moderate pace and stopping at the lookouts this took us almost four hours from Shin-Kobe train station to the cable car station near the summit, definitely longer than expected based on other reviews. The lower part of the walk, from Shin-Kobe station past the waterfalls to the Herb Garden is suitable for young children,... More

Mt. Maya is a mountain, which is easily accessible from Kobe by a cable car and a ropeway. From Kikuseidai observatory, which is just at the exit of the ropeway station, you can enjoy a magnificent view. 10 minutes' walk from Kikuseidai, you can reach the highest point of the mountain (698m).

Drive up the mountain at 10PM in almost complete darkness along the winding mountain roads but needless to say it was well worth the trouble! Kobe city spreads out in front of you like the Milky Way, humming and sparkling silently in the distance. Awesome!

Two weeks ago my wife and I decided to go for a hike starting from the Shinkansen Bullet train station. With a backpack of food and drinks we set off for Nunobiki Falls some 15 minutes away from the station. These falls are a wonderful short hike from the station and we had visited there many times. This day we... More

My family decided to visit Mount Maya from Osaka we caught a train from Shin-Oska to Sanniyoma station (Bus 18 and 2 leave from here). We then caught another underground train to Shin-Kobe. As you exit the station follow the signs for the bus. There is a stop next to Family Mart (stock up on water. Toilet inside). From there... More

If you are at Kobe now, don't miss this. Do head there early for get a window seat for dinner. Btw, there's always long queue for the last few cable car, make sure you catch the last one.
