Well organised and laid out museum and quite interesting in terms of the process of making Sake. We were quite interested in finding out about the difference of quality and tastes of the Sake which wasn't really explained but we enjoyed the free samples! Worth going if you like Sake but quite a trek really unless you're staying in Kobe!

This is a nice museum describing the process of making sake. The museum also has a shop with the possibility to taste sake. In this area there are several sake brewery so it is a nice afternoon to walk around between the different breweries.

We did a self guided tour of the sake breweries in the area. There are maps and sign posts to guide you along which is nice but the breweries are far apart because they are so large. We got into town late and were sure we missed the breweries because most closed at 5pm. The guard motioned us to go... More

The museum is a bit outside of the kobe downtown but it is worth the short train ride. You will have a chance to see how sake was made at the begining compare to now.

Kobe is famous as the center of sake brewing, with most of the big manufacturers located in this industrial part of town near Sumiyoshi Station. And Hakutsuru, along with Kikumasamune and Gekkeikan are the biggest. The Hakutsuru Museum has a nice self-guided display of old sake brewing tools, and a great explanation with old videos of the process in both... More

We braved the train systems (190 Yen each way!) to get out to Hyogo Prefecture. When you get out of the train station, go under the overpass and wander down the street - you will feel lost. Look up for a billboard marker of a crane. Walk towards it.... Cheap thing to do in Kobe - you need an hour... More

I found this museum very interesting as I knew nothing about the complex process of Sake brewing. It also gave an insight into Japanese life in the past. The museum was well presented with English versions of videos etc. The shop had some very nice items for sale. Well worth the visit.

This is a small museum to understand the processes of making rice wine (sake). A short visit if you love sake. A video will be aired as well on its history.

Authentic sake brewery with free museum showing history of sake making (video in English and Japanese). Free sake tasting at the end. Whole visit does not take more than 30 mins. Shop where you can buy some reasonably priced sake. It's an easy stop between Kobe and Osaka (not shinkansen) but suggest taking the taxi to/from Sumiyoshi station on a... More
