We really were not sure where this was located so we took a taxi from the Kyoto Station here (about $20) and it worked out very well. We were told there are around 400 cherry trees, a nice Shrine, a great huge old tree and...More

We have visited to Hirano Shrine at early April this year and found that the carnival at night time was joyful. There were many food stalls at the entrance and local people come to have their seats early before night time. They were cheerful having...More

Although this shrine is known as a famous spot of cherry blossom, the precincts are filled with street stalls in the season, your precious feelings will be ruined. On rainy days, a lot of mud can be made. It is not a place...More

Before you reach the temple, you will pass through a cherry blossom garden. We were lucky, during our visit, there was a carnival there. Food, game, stalls set up tables and chairs for you to watch cherry blossom while having lunch. We had our lunch...More

When you need to pay a fee for most places in Kyoto for the night illumination of the cherry blossoms, this place is free. This place has got lots to offer in addition to the sakura; there are some food stalls, like a local night...More

Amazing site to stroll under the cherry blossoms. And see a 400 year old tree that "provides long life to those that visit!"

Accidentally found this shrine during the bus journey towards kinkakuji. It was mesmerizing with beautiful cherry blossoms. It is less touristy so you can enjoy the sakura view in a peaceful manner. Under the cherry blossoms, there are number of stalls that you can having...More

This is a great place to see a variety of cherry blossoms that grow throughout the shrine complex. It's free to enter and it's just up the street from Kitano Tenmangu Shrine. It's also a short walk from Kinkakuji ( Golden Temple).

A district with a long textile heritage, ancient Kyoto
