We got into Kyoto in the late afternoon and had some time before dinner when we found this place. All the kaleidoscopes are displayed in one room. Some are antique and others are new. It was very entertaining for our short window of opportunity.

I was truly amazed. The Kaleidoscope museum is a small gem. It does not take much room to display a Kaleidoscope, but the worlds you encounter are much bigger than the physical space. Wonderful and impressive. This has nothing to do with the cheap Kaleidoscopes...More

A very nice place to see a very diverse and interesting array of kaleidoscopes. There is also a workshop corner for making one's own. Photographs were not allowed in the museum (a pity, in my opinion!)

Only one small room but many beautiful kaleidoscopes to look through. As some are quite delicate, bags must be put in a locker. Photos not allowed. Small cafe & shop. Well worth Y300.

This kaleidoscope museum was darling. It's small but really cute & the kaleidoscopes are so beautiful. The gift shop was great too. I bought a few kaleidoscopes for my collection... I'm definitely planning to visit some of the other kaleidoscope museums in Japan.

This quirky little museum is a few minutes' walk from the Manga Museum. My husband and daughters were initially sceptical at the idea of a kaleidoscope museum, but we all had a great time here. The staff were friendly and helpful, showing us how to...More

A very quirky place! My kids loved it and it was a respite from all the temples we've been dragging them to. The best part is making your own kaleidoscopes afterwards for an extra small fee. There were also kaleidoscope kits you can buy as...More

This definitely isn't the top attraction in Kyoto but it was really neat and cheap (300 yen entry) and the artwork here on the kaleidoscopes is incredible. There's even a kaleidoscope shaped like a geisha! The staff is very friendly and they obviously love the...More

It's a tiny little museum with just one room with different types of kaleidoscopes. The entry fee is only 300 yen. There are a lot of strange and wonderful kaleidoscopes with a card beside them that explains (in English) how to use them. The staff...More

Just a room with lots of kaleidoscopes but there were some truly amazing ones there. Fun and unique way to spend 30min. Staff were lovely, we arrived after 5pm (the last light projection show) but they played it again especially for us. We came directly...More

No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its
blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered

bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to
peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home

is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and
