"GEAR” is the first non-verbal performance originated in Japan. The world-class performers of mime, breakin', magic trick, and juggle presents a lovely story of a toy named “Doll” transforming a human girl through the various communications with an android named “Roboroid.”This performance is set without any “words,” just being compounded with the action, dance, expression, music, and images satisfying all the senses. And also, this performance is filled with the exciting materials. Stage setting gives an illusion loosing the way in the factory, or feeling like blown off by a gust of wind. And the contemporary technologies like the projection mapping, sparkling full colored LED dresses, and specially customized laser beams with 16million colors present everyone inexperienced impressions. Since started in the April 2014, this performance had a long run of 600 times and 30,000 audiences.

I can understand some of the less enthusiastic reviews. In a lot of ways it is just 5 street performers. But put together it is so very entertaining. The lighting, effects and set really add to the narrative. I was impressed by how emotionally drawn...More

My 13 year old granddaughter and I thoroughly enjoyed the show. Possibly one of the best things we did in Kyoto. Read the reviews as the Gear Show has universal appeal and go see it. We speak no Japanese and we were the only non...More

Every detail of the show was incredible. I was expecting a local show and this was just as good as Cirque in Las Vegas. Genuinely a must not miss experience.

I am not a big play type of guy, but I thought it was quite funny and clever. My whole family with 5,6,9,11 years old kids all enjoyed the play. No talking but there are four actors and an actress whom all had special skills....More

We were looking for a unique experience in Kyoto and Gear was a great choice. The written pre-show information was provided in English and Japanese, but the show is entirely without words. This is ideal for the few tourists in the audience (like me). The...More

Shinkyogoku Shopping District
Those who delight in shopping and cuisine will find
themselves at home in Shinkyogoku. Lauded and visited
by locals for its Nishiki Market, where baskets of
fragrant spices, dried fish, and just-fried foods are
piled high along the snaking streets of its enclosed
outdoor shopping spaces, Shinkyogoku is not only a hub
for fresh fare, but also for fast fashion fixes.

They sell out quickly but keep a few for "on the day" sales and "standing room" sales.
