Best experience our 2 sons have had in Japan. Samurai master Hougo was excellent, spoke good English and patiently explained each and every step to them. Staff were very accommodative and friendly. The show was very entertaining and educational. Would highly recommend it for anyone...More

I selected this Samurai experience over others because of the excellent reviews I've read about it and it did not disappoint. We had a great time! We booked the full experience which included the show, then the class while wearing the costumes. If you can...More

It was very interesting to see the performers dressed in traditional costumes. Telling the storylines of their dance. They have both traditional and modern dance. Swords are used as a prop rather than battling with them. We loved it. Found it entertaining and educational.

Best experience if you're looking for something exciting in the scenery-filled Kyoto. The staff were nice, and I really learned a lot about being a samurai. Will definitely come back once again.

To be honest, I just thought it would be fun to get to dress up and have my picture taken holding a sword, so I was mostly just excited for the instruction. But the performance/demonstration was far better than I expected. It not just fun...More

That was my brother’s idea. He reserved a package of show and kembu lesson (sword moves) for his and my families three weeks before we came to Japan. Honestly, I had no interest at all at that time. The Samurai Kembu Theater door opened on...More

We took our 2 boys (3 years old and 5 years old) to the show only. The boys liked it, although the 5 years old was hoping to see a real samouraï fight. I loved that we got to take free pictures with the samouraï...More

This is a great show in a very intimate little "theater". Actors present several different "shows", and offer preliminary explanations before each. Stylized samurai moves are demonstrated by beautifully costumed actors/actresses using replica weapons and real swords. This is followed by presentation of 2 "plays",...More

We booked this primarily for our 10 year old son but we all thoroughly enjoyed it. We watched the show and then did the shorter lesson with the dressing up. A really great experience and very interesting too!

City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its
blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered
shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street
bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to
peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home
goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center
is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and
clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of

You have to book online a day or two before arrival as it is limited seating and most of the time it is full. It's an amazing experience, i totally recommend it.
