The temple is off the beaten path but well worth the trip. It's a beautiful place to take pictures and relax The gardens are stunning. The temple was dedicated to one of Japan's emperors.

Sanzenin-in temple is not only a must-visit of Ohara, but also one of highlights in Kyoto. The main attraction is its garden with moss. It takes about one hour to visit. But if you have time, you had better to stay longer.

Go visit this Temple in Ohara. A short train and bus ride form downtown Kyoto. Far from the maddening crowds of the other more famous temples. Grounds are beautiful, spend one or two hours roaming the grounds. Lovely!

There are taxis in the area because of tourists. It may be a case of luck as to whether there is one around when you arrive at the bus stop. It is a quiet area. I think the cabs tend to be dropping off and picking up closer... More
