I have already written an extensive review about my walk up Mt Hiei. Please search Kirarazaka for my detailed recollection of adventures on the mountain. It is a must visit. Beautiful in vista and energy. You won't be disappointed!

I have visited Enryakuji temple , also walking trails . I went there by bus also cable car from Keihan Sakamoto station eaither.

I took the small train to go up the mountain and reached Enryaku ji. It was absolutly great: you can fell the spirit of the place, smelling incent while hearing the gong.

The hike is not very demanding, but also not too easy. You can always take the cable car (i is a bit pricy for this short trip). Make sure you carry along enough water, as there is - very unusual for japan- only one vending...More
