About
Come and visit Lazat Malaysian Cooking School and bring back an authentic taste of Malaysia! Our hands-on cooking classes are held Monday to Saturday and presented in English by entertaining Malaysian instructors. We are located just outside Kuala Lumpur city centre and our school is furnished with purpose made demonstration tables and individual cooking stations. Each day of the week we teach a different ethnic menu and provide detailed explanations of ingredients and cooking methods. Students individually prepare their own 4-course lunch, usually consisting of an appetizer, main course, side dish and dessert. Malaysian cuisine is a unique fusion of Malay, Chinese, Indian and Baba-Nonya flavors, drawing upon our country's rich history as an historical crossroads for explorers and traders from around the globe. At LaZat our goal is to bring Malaysian cooking to the world by sharing with you our family recipes, which we have savored and perfected over generations.

The cooking class was amazing!! We were taken care of every step of the way by Saadia and Irene. My friend wasn't feeling well so she didn't come but Saadia and Irene graciously cooked for her so that we could bring her something. We made delicious food ( a chicken curry, a delicous dessert, and Roti ). Everything was very clean, well organized, well explained, and overall very fun. The chefs taught us many cultural things as we cooked.
Overall 10/10 recommend!

Ana [the owner] liaised with me all throughout my booking process whilst I was in the UK. It was easy to book and I was advised by Ana to transfer the money via a website called TransferWise. It was quick and simple and trust worthy. We stayed in the heart of KL and the venue of the cooking class was lovely and set outside in the garden area of one of Malaysia's most iconic historical buildings, AIAC Bangunan Sulaiman.
We had Irene and Sadiya teach us. These two ladies were absolutely amazing and gorgeous inside and out. We had a welcome breakfast [tea and a malaysian snack] and then we began the cooking class. We got to make Baba Nyonya food (typical malaysian food), eg Starter- Roti Jala, Main Course-Kapitan Chicken and a Desert called Onde onde.
Our group were so lovely, a couple from America and the other two from Dubai.
All the equipment was set out for us and for each dish and everything was organised for us. The day was very organized, our teachers made the day really fun. This must've been one of the best highlights of our trip to Malaysia. I highly recommend it. You won't need any food for the rest of the day... we were stuffed.

I had a great online cooking class via Zoom with Ana last week. She was very communicative in setting it up, and then patient, friendly and informative during the class itself. The Malaysian starters she taught me to make were all eaten within 5 minutes of the class ending, yummy! Hope one day when travel restrictions allow, to attend her cooking school in person.

We just spend the morning with Ana and her team at LaZat in the beautiful jungle setting. We had a great day chatting to Ana and cooking authentic Malaysian dishes.
Highly recommend to anyone traveling through Malaysia or expats living here. Despite the jungle setting it only 15min from Mont Kiara.
A wonderful morning and great cooking class.
Thanks Ana

We did the LaZat cooking class today and we were super impressed. After living in Malaysia for 6 years now and always wanting to properly learn how to do some of the wonderful Malay style cooking, we were so pleased that we did the class today. Ana and her team are super friendly and explain the techniques and processes as you go through the cooking steps. We made beef and chicken rendang and some other dishes and at the end of the session, we ate our food and even if I say so, it was really fabulous. The location of LaZat is I guess in a jungle area so the atmosphere is even more special .. it's really peaceful and lovely. Normally there would be a market tour but due to the COVID-19, this didn't happen but when we go back for future classes, we would definitely take the opportunity to do the market tour as we see so many food items that we have no idea how to use, so this would be really beneficial for us. We absolutely and highly recommend a LaZat cooking class. You will not be disappointed and will learn how to make some fabulous local makan (food) and have an experience that you will take away with you.

This class takes you through the whole process, from sourcing the food to plating it. Starting at the market, we learned about the roles of many spices and aromatics used in Malaysian cooking, then a trip to the stalls where you can find the items. The hosts are on good terms with many of the vendors--I bought some fresh-made curry paste dirt cheap and they still threw in an extra bag!

At the house in the leafy edge of KL you'll sit down and watch each step being done before you get a chance to do it yourself. The class is put on very professionally and the instructors will show you exactly how much heat to use and what condition the ingredients should be in at each stage. Combined with the background knowledge of the herbs and spices, this conveys much more than a superficial understanding of how to prepare the dishes.

Highly recommended!

Ana, Saadiah & the team continue to provide fun, informative & delicious cookery classes in a pretty & tranquil venue.
I am a vegetarian & my needs were catered for with no fuss & I was able to make a delicious jackfruit rendang whilst my class mates made the traditional beef rendang.
Highly recommend Lazat to anyone who wants to try a cooking class whilst in KL.

What a great cooking class and memorable time this was! I was picked up from my hotel and taken to the local wet market to see the butchers, fish mongers, vegetable and fruit stands, and spices. I was given an introduction and shown many essential ingredients of Malay cuisine and taught about the local culture here, before heading out to attend the cooking class.

The instructor was very warm and friendly and I had an enjoyable experience from start to finish. And when done cooking dishes, I was given a recipe book to recreate on my own.

I recommend Lazar to anyone who enjoys cooking and wants to have a fun few hours on their KL trip.

I absolutely loved this cooking class. We got a transfer from our hotel in KL in a very comfortable mink bus (which I recommend) and were taken to the market. The market tour was very interesting and we ate delicious roti canai, as well as saw it being made.
The cooking class itself is excellent value. We did the Malaysian classic. The ladies who run the place are so friendly and spent time chatting to us about the country, giving us recommendations and were incredibly hospitable.
We cooked in the most incredible setting and were even given cold towels to keep us cool.
This class is well worth every penny and I highly recommend it. You even get a recipe book to take home.
