Kl Jalan Alor food street.
August 02, 2022
Meng Kee restaurant.
Food and service outstanding.
We had Tiger Krystal beer with one fish dish, 2 plates of small clams and seafood soup.
All exceptional. Total cost less than
125 myr (1000 thb).
Great way to spend an hour or 2 outdoor on the street.

Overpriced food. Mostly made up of Thai and Chinese restaurants that average 30myr a plate. Main targets are tourists, worth trying once if your a fan of food street atmosphere

Probably the most popular and most visited tourist attraction in Kuala Lumpur.
With dozens of lively restaurants and a colourful atmosphere, Jalan Alor is perfect for an evening/night out.

May2022. I was expecting a lot of street-food (ie. kopitiam food or hawker food) but instead I found that it was mostly local restaurants. I did see a few street-food stalls. It was surprisingly short, only about 320m. I had dinner at Restoran Lim Kee. I don't know about the other restaurants (I only tried this one) but the food here was reasonably priced (for KL town centre) and good. I was surprised because I was expecting tourist pricing, but the prices were printed on the menu which were on every table. If I were staying in KL town, I guess I wouldn't mind coming to Jalan Alor for food, but I wouldn't come here from outside KL (eg. from PJ or USJ). FrancisTLim.

The new Bamboo restaurant in Jalan Alor is brilliant.
Burmese food during day and from 7.00 pm Thai food.
The Chilli crab is delicious . The deep fried squid partnered with pineapple rice is really yummy.
Outstanding customer service, nothing is too much trouble for the staff.
A great place to eat.

When you are looking for a night market in Kuala Lumpur with good food that’s definitely the place to go!
There are lot of Malay, Chinese and Indian Restaurants with a lot of different foods. When you looking for Durian you should also go there!

We were approached by a call girl. There are pickpockets and other riff-raff. Does not feel safe and is not clean. Go early in the day and go soon if you want to see the street art as much of it is already fading.

It is said that this is the longest food street in Asia. Here you can find a variety of Asian food. There are many exotic foods here that you can sit on the table and eat after choosing on the street!Of course, among the thousands of dishes, the only thing I chose was ice cream made with fresh coconut !!

The foreign workers who manned the stalls here were nice. Now, the locals have taken on the job. The locals make no effort in making this a great place. It has slid into seedier realm with lots of filth/dirt around.

What would be the best thing or place to eat here if I have a very severe nut allergy?

Best to stick to seafood. You can also ask at restaurants and emphasise your allergy. Stay away from satay especially the sauce which is peanut based. Sometimes the meat marinade could also be contaminated with peanut.

Do you recommend taking a taxi/Grab during peak hours (9pm-12am)? I’m more concerned about how easy or difficult it is to get a taxi/Grab leaving from this place.

I would suggest to take the monorail at Imbi, the traffic is hectic that time of night and a 5 minute trip can take up to 40 min. Taxi's would take a long time.

Do they have vegetarian restaurants there?

Jalan Alor is a street full of little restaurants with wide variety of food selection. I am pretty sure you get a vegetarian dish somewhere. But I don't think there is one particular restaurant that is 100% vegetarian. Hope you enjoy your stay there. Good luck!
Is the place convenient for parking? As we will be driving there. Any recommended location/spot for parking?
