Central Market began life as a wet market in 1888, built by Yap Ah Loy, the city’s Chinese Kapitan. It served as a prominent landmark in colonial and modern-day Kuala Lumpur. When the wet market was relocated in the 1980s, the Malaysian Heritage Society successfully petitioned against the demolition of the building. Now, Central Market Kuala Lumpur is an iconic attraction and a delightful destination for tourists, shoppers and art lovers.

Nice market

This is a nice market, I didn't end up buying much there, but it's kept very clean and the people don't really hassle you like other countries I've been to.

The Central Market is first and for all a market. In the main building a broad range of stores offer an even wider range of souvenirs, pictures, silverware, leather and much more. Interesting enough prices are seldom higher than in other places in town, sometimes even lower. Next to the building are many more shops to buy more ore less... More

A variety of interesting shops and market stalls to browse at leisure. I bought some very pretty silk scarves for friends and relations. There is also a good food court selling all kinds of meals to suit many tastes.

Great little market/stalls, you don't get harassed as much here as you do at the others. We stumbled on a lady with fish. They clean your feet ... it the weirdest experience I've had. I did scream like girl the first time I dipped my toe. Start with your heels them slowly submerge you feet... It's not as bad as... More

To be honest we preferred Petaling street and the madness it has. But this market is also a good place to spend a few hours if you can spare it.
