KL Tower or also known as Menara Kuala Lumpur, the tallest Telecommunication Tower in South East Asia & the 7th tallest in the world, was built to improve the quality of telecommunications and broadcasting transmissions. It has become a significant landmark and symbol that identifies Malaysia as a great tourist destination of the millennium and at the same time a testimony of Malaysia’s capability in the building of high technology facilities. Located atop Bukit Nanas at a breathtaking height of 421 meters, KL Tower was built blending the tower seamlessly with nature. Bukit Nanas is one of the oldest permanent forest reserves in Malaysia. It was gazette in 1906 and was formerly known as Bucket Weld Forest Reserve. Covering an area of approximately 9.37 hectares, Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve is the only remaining virgin tropical rainforest in the heart of the city of Kuala Lumpur. Serving as the green lung of the city, Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve is also home to an abundant of flora and fauna of the Malaysian tropical rainforest. In fact, KL Tower is the only tower in the world located within a forest! KL Tower is in the hospitality and business experience industry. It offers experiences such as viewing, dining, nature, adventure, event and shopping. Time your visit
Because of how much it rains here it's most likely not a good idea to book ahead since if it rains you won't be allowed up. I tried to go around sunset time but was not able to because of the rain so I went early the next day. The view is really nice you can see the skyline of the city as well as the Petronas Towers. There is a glass box which sticks out of the tower for a better view and pictures.

Best views of KL... Better than petronas!!
Best place in KL to see the city view from a height. Better than petronas tower!!! We took the ticket for sky box and sky deck and it was worth it We reached between 5.30 to 6.00 pm. There was no rush to get in.It took us atleast 30 min of waiting to get our turn for the sky box. We only were able to get to sky box 2 as the waiting time for sky box one was even longer. There one good thing that came off the wait was that we got to see the KL skyline in day and as well as night when the light got switched on.

Good to visit as a tourist
3/5 1st October 2023 Came here as a tourist. Got to save its pretty nice up there to look at the views. But I felt the organization of the lifts and everything was a disaster as we were stuck up there for 30 minutes due to poor management. I hope it’s not the same usually but that was my experience. Good to come here if you’re a tourist.

    Encompassing tower
Menara Kuala Lumpur is a skyscraper in the Malaysian capital. While most go for the observation deck, the tower itself transforms into a sci-fi attraction at night. The illuminated building forms an eerie but interesting landscape.

Great views from the KL tower
We visited the tower as part of an overall excursion, to make sure we did the Batu caves as well. Its not quite as iconic as Petronas but still offers some fantastic views. You can see Petronas from the observation deck, but only at an angle. It offers fantastic views all around and is well worth a visit. Tickets are probably to be booked in advance, it was fairly busy but minutes not hours to wait.

Kl Tower Observation Deck (Outside) plus Skybox 1
What an amazing experience! This was on my “must do” list while visit KL for the first time. So glad I did!! I went early and got there when they opened. I had not prepurchased a ticket as I didn’t want yo be locked in to a time. It paid off going early as there were no queues for tickets. I purchased the Outside Observation Deck ticket PLUS the Skybox 1 (( there are 2… one with Petronas Towers {#1} in background, and the other {#2} with the new Merdika 118 building {now 2nd tallest building in the world apart from Burj Khalifa in UAE} )) Once inside, you are ushered by very helpful staff to a lift and according to your ticket, the correct floors are selected for you & you’re told where to alight. Once on your floor, your ticket is scanned again, (at this point if you’re doing the Skybox, you will be given a number. Do not lose it! It’s your queue number) and you are free to take as long as you like admiring the incredible views from 335m up! You can walk all the way around. As you admire the view, you will (if you bought a Skybox ticket), be listening out for your number to be called. Then proceed to the relevant Skybox. You have a little time in the Skybox to take your own quick photos and the photographer is only too happy to take pics on your mobile for you too. He will then take a few professional pics which you can view inside, but are not obliged to purchase. I absolutely loved the Skybox experience, but be warned it is not for the faint hearted!! You are standing on glass 335m up !!! Brilliant fun !! Highly recommend Allow 1-2 hours depending how quickly your queue number gets called. If you buy a ticket to the outdoor observation deck, you can also get access to the lower inside deck (but not vice versa)

Expensive for what it is. Do Petronas Towers instead.
The ticket options are a bit confusing but were easy to get on the day we went. The Sky Deck is an open viewing platform (nice open air views, in contrast to Petrnoas Towers which is behind glass). We also did the 'Observation Deck' which is one floor down but as this was behind glass we didn't feel it was worth it. Note on the Sky Deck, there is a long queue (45 min) for the 'Sky Box' experience and we didn't feel it was worth the wait or expense for that; it is the same view after all just in a box with a glass floor. All in all the tickets were quite expensive and in retrospect we would have just done the Petronas Towers since they are more iconic, and it's a similar view from both. If you can't do Petrnoas Towers because the tickets are sold out this is a close substitute. There is also a restaurant at the top which we didn't try.

    Cool experience!
I would recommend the Sky Box and Sky Deck - Sky Box is especially cool because you can look down and have the city under your feet! Views are amazing, plus you get to see the Petronas Towers from here. Pro tip: go early in the morning so it's not as busy and you can spend a little extra time in the Sky Box

KL tower offers excellent views across the city. We went one afternoon, but the queues were long and we were advised that there was up to an hour's wait for the skybox. We returned the next day in the morning and went straight in. The package for the sky deck includes the observation deck and the skybox (a glass box which overhangs the edge!) for MR99 (approx £20). There is no restriction on how long you can spend up there and we spent around an hour. Be warned if you go in the afternoon be prepared for long queues!

£20 per adult to see panoramic view of smoggy city on open observation deck. Good for people, wanting selfies on glass floor box. Cant really get that excited.

Menara or Petronas? I opted for Menara Tower. It may not be as tall as the Petronas Towers, but given that it's on a hill you're actually higher than the Petronas Towers once up there. I think I made the right decision but then I didn't do the other one to compare.
The queue to take the lift up was a little tiresome on a Saturday morning, but there was a big tour group in front of me. If the higher open deck level is open ( this being dependent on wind and weather) you can walk right round to enjoy the views of the city and out beyond it into the highlands. And also get your 1 minute and 40 seconds in the glass Sky Box, which surprisingly induced no vertigo in me, unlike several European church towers. Below the open deck there's a glazed observation deck with a few souvenir shops and more photo opportunities. And more kiosks at the bottom, of course.
The ticket price seemed a bit steep even with a senior discount, but I enjoyed it.

This is a great way to get a panoramic view of KL. If you get Observation deck tickets you have the added thrill of the two glass sky boxes. You only get a limited time in the sky box (less than 2 minutes I think), so you have to be quick if you are taking your own pictures. There are photographers on hand to take pictures if you wish, at a price of course. Talking of price, the restaurant and café are expensive as to be expected. You can get to the tower on the free GO KL bus but note that the KL tower bus stop isn't next to the tower but is on the main road at the bottom of the steep hill. It is nice to approach the tower via walkways in the KL Eco forest although I believe that there is now a charge to enter (it was free in November).

I visited mid morning. No queue for a ticket and quite a short queue for the lifts, but quite slow moving. Probably took about 20 minutes.

Once at the top you have a ticket which places you in a virtual queue to use one of the two sky boxes. On arrival the guide said about 15 minutes. In reality it was well over an hour.

It’s a nice view from the top, but time gets quite long waiting for the sky box. The time in the sky box is short and strictly limited, but long enough to get some photos. The guides will willingly take photos of you too in the sky box.

Overall enjoyed my visit but spent more time there than I planned.

There is a cafe on the observation deck, and various cafes and souvenir shops at ground level.

Nice place but inefficient coordination and management. After lunch at restaurant at level 33, we have to go back to ground level to get our observation tower ticket scan (observation tower at level 32). When we asked restaurant staff why is this so? The answer 'restaurant has limited access to observation tower'. When we told ticketing counter, a male staff replied 'go and ask restaurant'. OMG.. Obviously restaurant-observation not been communicating with each other. Please think of visitors next time. Create visitor tracking system that can ease us, communicate with your team effectively, show professional attitude. I am sure people will come again.

Nothing short of a TOURIST TRAP. There are 2 lots of entry fees, one for locals and one for tourists.

I understand the tower is starting to wear out with very basic facilities but to charge 110 Malaysian ringgit per adult entry and 65 Malaysian ringgit for kids under 12 is just highway robbery.

My 13 year old son had to pay and adult entry. Total cost just to go up to the Sky Deck which is an open deck where you only have a 180 degree view of the city that also includes a Sky Box was 460 Malaysian Ringgit.

And to add to it, while we waited near 45 minutes to an hour to have our photo taken in the Sky Box, to get out of the heat we went into the cafe in the Sky Deck and were charged 40 Malaysian Ringgit each for a very small icecream cup.

We asked if we could also have a look at the Observation Deck whilst we waited for our turn on the Sky Box but no, we were told we could not go to the Observation Deck even though the Sky Deck cost more than the Observation Deck.

We finally managed to wait out our time on the Sky Deck for the Sky Box where we had 2 minutes to take photos.

Once we were done, we couldn't get off the tower quick enough.

My family and I have spent the last few days in Kuala Lumpur and loved a lot of what KL has had to offer including the food, Petronas Towers, Batu Caves, KLCC, the elevated pedestrian walkways, the indoor amusement park to name a few but we thought we had left the best for last being the KL Tower but we're greatly disappointed.

Don't even bother going up the KL Tower, it is nothing but a tourist trap. Do yourself a favour and don't let this one place spoil what is truly a great city.

We visited for sunset. Good views. The only downside is the queue for the glass box but. I did not want to go on this, but I could not buy a ticket for the top viewing platform without buying this too. If I wanted to go in the glass box, there seemed to be upto an hour wait.

I went on sunset, which was perfect, because I had the best views before night fall and after, with the city lights. The top floor is outside, without roof to protect. Beware of inclement weather - the girl who sold me the ticket warned me of no refund due to bad weather, and I said "it's such a beautiful day" - how naive was I, as after 30 min thunderstorm and rain started to fall, and I actually felt the tower shaking. Fortunately, rain stopped and I was able to go to the skydeck.

Highly recommend the sky deck and sky box tickets as this provides the best views of the city, and also grants you a queue number entry onto the scary skybox platforms. Views are amazing at nighttime, particularly as you can see the lights from the top of the Petronas towers illuminate the sky. Breathtaking views and well worth the fairly expensive cost.
