I really liked the Star Wars Pewter figures they had when we visited in December 2019.
It was interesting to walk through the factory on the tour and see where the crafting occurred.
We went back a second time on another tour and purchased some Pewter mugs, and small Disney figures.

The tour was so interesting and with some interactive elements that our 11 year old enjoyed. Grace our guide informative and friendly. The tour finishes in the gift shop but there is no pressure at all to buy.

Malayan Pewter, Selangor Pewter Malaya, Selangor Pewter Malaysia, Selangor Pewter, Royal Selangor Pewter - The evolution and history of what is today famously known as Royal Selangor is just some of the takeaways you will come to be familiar with after completing the guided tour at the Royal Selangor Visitor Centre. Tucked away in the suburbs of Setapak, Kuala Lumpur, this venue effecfively simultaneously achieves being a museum, a manufacturing factory, an exhibition centre and souvenir shop.
The interior is very well kept (including bathrooms) and our guided tour experience (which I highly recommend) led by the impressive Ravi left us with a deeper awareness of Royal Selangor's rich history and a great deal of appreciation for the level of craftsmanship that goes into their pewter products; the vast majority are molded and created by hand. Swing by on weekdays to see more of the factory in action.
With parking fees skyrocketing in shopping malls and crowd levels returning to pre-pandemic times, the Royal Selangor Visitor Centre is a fantastic alternative for both tourists and locals alike. The guided tour (or self guided if you prefer) and parking is free and the cafe inside serves up good food at reasonable prices.
Growing up in the 90s, the Royal Selangor brand was synonymous with pricey goods and the pride of the nation. Fast forward to today and upon spending time at the souvenir shop, you can definitely find many practical items at various price points. Pop culture based pewter such as Marvel, Harry Potter, Disney, Star Wars and others are definitely worth checking out while sister companies Comyns and Selberan cater to more upscale clientele.
As with most companies, I can't imagine how badly Royal Selangor was impacted by the pandemic and I hope they're able to find their feet again. With almost 150 years of history to their name, I hope this family owned business can still thrive and uphold their quality over time. This visitor center is a good way to showcase the best of Malaysia and exceeded my expectations. I'd easily recommend checking out this place.

We visited the Royal Selangor Visitor Center earlier this month and had a fantastic time learning about the history of the company, the pewter craft and importance of tin in Malaysia's development. Joyce, our guide, was very informative and engaging throughout the entire tour.

What a life!?! the best things in life are free, indeed!!!
First time to experience being welcome by the tour guide the moment you enter the museum and guide you through as well which are the top choices at the Café.
As the tour guide knowledgeably stating the important persons, dates and events and Narrating how did it all begin, about the foundation of Royal Selangor, the Founder, first Pewter smiths, the family and the connections.
Showcasing the magnificent and finest collections of products, exquisitely and manually molded. You'll learn the processes from compound or raw preparation, melting, polishing and finishing.
Recommendable and worth as much time as you have available!

We took our children to visit royal selangor visitor ctr during school holiday to participate in the school of hard knock activity. Ravi who was the tour person, took us around and provided the info and history on Royal Selangor. Interesting visit and very informative, my kids really enjoyed it a lot. At the end of the tour, we were sent to school of hard knock to “knock” the pewter and make a bowl, which after, the bowl that we’ve made was given to us as souvenir together with a royal selangor apron and a certificate. A gem in the city, definitely.

I accidentally booked the wrong date for School of Hard Knocks but they still let me join the workshop with the same ticket. Super nice! So glad that I made it to the museum as there was flash flood the day before.
Ravi was the workshop instructor. He was very clear in his explanation and most importantly, patient and helpful. The workshop was fun and I had my name engraved on the pewter piece and had it smashed into a bowl. It was a great experience started off with workshop then followed by the guided tour as it induced my sense of appreciation of the pewter craftsmanship after the hands-on session.
The guided tour was excellent and Ravi was again the tour guide. He was knowledgeable, friendly, also very detailed in answering my queries. From history of the company to the display of early pewter items, all was informative and interesting. I was offered to try chilled 100plus in a pewter tumblr and it was a cool experience! Post that, the tour continued with 3 workstations showing how the artists moulded the items and polished them. I got to try hammering a tumblr and oh boy it was so difficult. Mine was so ugly while the artist hammered the prints on the tumblr so perfectly and effortlessly. The skill and patience of these artists is incredible!
Also, Mr Wong from the gift shop was helpful and patient in answering my questions. If time permits, don’t miss out the gift shop as there are a lot of interesting souvenirs to bring home.
It was a highlight of the my short trip in KL. Highly recommended to everyone. I will be back to visit The Foundry in the future.

Was introduced to this place by my uncle. Free on-site parking easily available, we reached quite late, around 3pm on a Saturday afternoon.
Was greeted warmly by Grace who informed us that the cafe will close by 430pm hence we headed to the cafe to have reasonably priced coffee and cheesecake.
Then we were taken on a guided tour to the museum and factory by Grace who was very warm and knowledgeable. Had a go at pounding the pewter sheet with a mallet which was really interesting and also had an ice cold drink out of a pewter cup, refreshing!
Ended the tour at the gallery/shop. Great pewter collection ranging from household items to Star Wars.
10/10 will recommend for an afternoon day out in KL.

Yes there are 2 activity rooms one you make your own bowl from a flat sheet. Harder than it looks and it is quite reasonably priced. You keep the apron as well. The other workshop make more delicate items.
