The museum has a very good lay-out and has a lot of exhibits inside and outside. It shows the history of the police force in Malaysia and it also has a good display of weaponry used from the olden times. They also have a collection of transports surrounding the museum from tanks to a boat and a helicopter.

Excellent displays and information.
The only negative comment is that the lighting could be greatly improved which would definitely enhance the displays.
Needs to be more widely advertised.

This place is truly underrated. I’m surprised by the detailed information provided, running through Kesultanan Melayu Melaka, to Communist and Japanese invasion til current times. Lots to see and no entrance fee is imposed. Good place for school children too.
However, there were not enough lightings and it’s a bit dinghy.

We visited here a few years ago and decided to do a return visit with our friends. Forget it is a police museum just go to see the history. Amazing what you can learn. The staff were great and we showed a photo a one of the staff members from our last trip. The staff recognised her and whilst touring the museum they located her and she turned up and spent time talking to us. The history is good and also includes some of Singapore from the early days. Well worth the visit and then also look at the bird sanctuary and planetarium close by.

As the title says, I loved this place!
If you’re looking for some time to kill OR enrich your history of Malaysia, this is a good place to go to.
The entrance is totally Free! And it’s location is stategicalle clustered with 2 other historical museums not too far away.
The have an outside portion, with a memorial that displays the names of all the fallen heroes of Malaysia, and the inner portion takes you on a journey of the early history all the way to current times in Malaysia.
The highlight for me was in the second section where they have a locked room full of guns and bullets on display along with other weapons used in past wars. I loved it so much!! We could see different bullet sizes close up and the types of different guns. This was the most interesting section to me.
The rest of the sections are definitely worth visiting as well. As a Malaysian myself, I have not been there even though I’ve lived in my own country all my life.
Definitely highly recommended! Go for it!
Do check operation hours on google first before your trip.

The museum is filled with lots of items and there is so much information too. To fully appreciate the museum you need at least over an hour. The different rooms have items from the early days and follows a timeline to modern day. We found it fascinating. Staff are very helpful and there is no charge for the visit.

We have two kids under 5 and we didn't plan on stopping. We were parked nearby for some other activity and just stumbled on this place. What a great find!
Firstly, its free!! Cant beat that. Consists of 3 galleries and multiple outdoor attractions like an old armored train carriage, police ship, cable cars etc. Which the kids really loved.
Galleries showcased different weapons but also a little bit about police history in Malaysia.Better yet, all galleries were air conditioned. True, some displays were a bit 'dated' but still well kept and mantained nonetheless.
If youre in the area, or looking to kill 60-90mins, definitely head here.

A small museum located just down the hill from the biotanic gardens. Staff was very helpful and entry is free. Several hundred years of history of the police in Malaysia with very good coverage of the troubles in the 1950s. A nice way to spend a hour or so.

A friend of mine and I went to this museum it was very informative about the history of police going back to the Portuguese times. It’s worth watching the video very interesting. I also like walking around the gardens with the different police vehicles and aeroplane.

My late father Mr IP Hyde GM was a young police Lieutenant who joined the SOVF during the times of the Emergency. He eras awarded the George Medal by General Templar and attended the Queens Coronation parade representing The Confederation Of Malaysia police Force.
We hopefully will be coming to Singapore in Jan 2022 , I would like to Honour my dad by presenting you a copy of his medal .
Is this something that can be organised ?
If is I look forward to your reply.
Kindest regards,
Peter Hyde

Does the Museum hold incident reports on ambushes during the Malayan Emergency?
I am looking for information on the terrorists that ambushed two vehicles at mile 98 on the Manchis to Bentong road travelling on Boxing Day 26 December 1956. They killed eight of the eleven persons who were returning to 6 Malay Regiment having been to a recovery job One of the survivors was a British school boy. Son of S/Sgt Harris REME

Bill,
Not as far as I am aware. Their role/experience in the Emergency was sketched over. David
