Although the gallery was not that expansive, there was a display of local modern art as well as historical information about Seychelles. From time to time there are exhibits on display and it definitely is worth visiting if you have some time to spare.

We had been given a tourist map by our hotel which showed the National Museum here as well. A lady at reception told us the museum was now closed. So we had a look through the public areas of the art gallery. There are 2 modest rooms, one containing general art, presumably by local artists and the other containing portraits... More

Although the portraits of local identities were of people unknown to us, it was pleasing that they had thought to commission an artist to do them as part of their history. There is a national portrait gallery most likely of important local historical figures and next to this gallery there was more local art work form local artists. basic paintings rather with scenery and portraits, figurative and classic style. Interesting little break in the middle of the small Victoria buzz
