We love this zoo! We keep annual passes so we visit a couple of times a year- generally in the spring and fall but also on warmer winter days. We live about an hr away. I think it makes a HUGE difference in your experience and expectations if you are able to visit often. Because we come a couple of... More

All kinds of animals to see here from Polar Bears to Giraffes. This zoo is very spacious so most of the animals have plenty of room to roam. It is very clean and well maintained. You can tell that the animals are well cared for. Because it is spacious, plan on a long walk from end to end; however, transportation... More

the zoo is in a forest setting giving a natural feel to the surroundings. It's in two main sections of North America and Africa. If you follow all the marked trails be prepared to do a LOT of walking. It's not particularly well laid out in that you basically walk to the very end of Africa and have to walk... More

We spent the day with our family and I must say we all really enjoyed our zoo trip. The weather was great, the crowds were small. Most of the animals were on display, some of the attractions were closed. My Fitbit recorded 7.5 miles walking...that's why my feet hurt. For me and my family it was a great day.

We drove from Myrtle Beach area to see the zoo since we had heard good things about it. We were disappointed, most of the cafes and gift shops were closed. Let alone a lot of the zoo was blocked off for construction, repair who knows. We didn't see many of the animals, the ones we did see were sleeping. It... More

We were around Asheboro in February, so we decided to take a trip by the NC Zoo. It was close to 80 degrees so it should have been a great day to go. We were disappointed. Most all the cafe's in the place were closed for the season, although there was a pretty big crowd there, and the ones that... More

This past summer was our 1st as grandparents taking babies to the zoo. There are places for smaller children and those young at heart. There are interactive areas & a movie theater. The best part was the opportunity to feed the giraffes.

I took my girlfriend there for her birthday. The zoo has one entrance closed for the winter season and half of the places to eat. There are a limited number of places to eat at the zoo. Unless you are a parent who has a stroller of kids and food, we didn't think we could bring in a lunch or... More

Very poorly run. We had to walk 1.5 miles to the entrance because one was closed for the season. I guess they think we live in Wisconsin. It was 80 degrees. The shuttle line was an hour long in the sun. One concession place had real food. They only made 40 sandwiches according to the staff so they ran out... More
