Located in a wooded setting that kept the paths mostly shaded. Well maintained and beautifully landscaped. Walked about 5 miles from start to finish. Very clean facilities. It was a great zoo!! Polar bears are still my favorite!

Our zoo-visiting group included 3 adults and 4 kids ages 1,2,4, and 5. We got there shortly after opening time at 9 to be sure there would be strollers available to rent. We got 2 double strollers, invaluable for getting 4 preschoolers around for a...More

The ONLY reason this place didn't get five stars from me was because of the food. Seriously, just like anywhere, it is expensive, and not that great. We were even willing to pay not to go picnic (I know, we're weird like that, ha!). Negative...More

We found the zoo exciting, clean and pleasantly shaded. The exhibits are very nice and most animals were roaming and playing. Definitely a 4-6hour or more day. There are nice spots with shade that allows kids to play. A change of clothes was smart as...More

I went here with someone for a day trip on a Saturday. It was decent for the price that we paid and for what we got to see. There was a lot of walking so I would not recommend going on a hot day especially....More

Took my grandchildren, 13 and 4, to The zoo as an overnight trip. The park itself is a great walking/hiking destination for families. We entered from the African end of the park, walked all the way to the far end of the North America section,...More

This place is absolutely stunning!!! One of the most beautiful, zoo's I have been to. The space for the animals is incredible. The settings for them is very natural. We just went to the African side and spent the day there, you would need a...More

We love going to the NC Zoo! It's only about 25 minutes from home, but I would suggest that anyone coming the area to stop and pay a visit. If you are one to enjoy the animals, you can easily spend all day. There is...More

Really great place for kids. Be prepared for a lot of walking, some uphill, and it's a good idea to bring a stroller for young kids. Also makes it easier to carry around the backpack loaded up with water and snacks. The food in the...More

This was our second trip to the NC Zoo with our grandsons and we had a great time. It was raining in the morning so there were not many people in attendance but the tree-covered paths kept the rain and sun at bay. I love...More

Someone told me you can see the elephants up close, is this true? Can you get a picture with them?

This is a yes/no situation. Sometimes they are very close to the small pond that separates them from the waist high railing. You can get great photos there. If they are being fed then they are at the back of the exhibit.
