This is a big zoo. You have to cover a lot of ground to see it, but it is worth it because the animals have such good habitats.

We went on Easter Sunday and there weren't many people there-- so we got to see all that we wanted until we got tired. We also went on a Tuesday morning and stayed until it got crowded around noon. Make sure you get there early!...More

My daughter and I had a great time walking through the whole park and seeing all the wonderful animals, birds, flowers. Flamingos, elephants, giraffes, rinos, Polar Bear, and gorilla some of our favorites. The Polar Bear was doing back flips in the water and the...More

We decided to buy the family membership because we didn't have to wait in line to get in to the zoo. Have your walking shoes on because we only saw the African side of the zoo and walked 5 miles. Food there is a bit...More

I wish we had split it into two days. As NC Aquarium members, we get free admission. I'd bring my kids for the Kids Zone alone. What a unique and fun playground. The African animals were very active in the morning. By after lunch, the...More

It cost $15 for adults to get in. You will do a lot of walking but it so much fun you really don't notice it. A lot of animals to see. You can also feed the giraffes for $2 which I highly recommend. (NOTE: they...More

Very nice and the kids will love it. Lots to see and do. Food can be pricey so bring a picnic lunch if on a budget.

Large variety of animals. Biggest complaint is that other than the lions and prairie animals, every exhibit bottlenecks to a small viewing area for way too many people. It was the day before Easter so I get it being busy but wow! Lots of walking...More

Someone told me you can see the elephants up close, is this true? Can you get a picture with them?

This is a yes/no situation. Sometimes they are very close to the small pond that separates them from the waist high railing. You can get great photos there. If they are being fed then they are at the back of the exhibit.
