You don't need to head to England to experience the genius of a Shakespearean play. Much closer to home is the Oregon Shakespeare Festival located in Ashland, Oregon. Every year at the end of October you can enjoy on average over ten of Shakespeare's plays performed in both classic and newly imagined style. Separate tickets are needed for each show which is held at one of the event campus's two indoor or one outdoor spaces.

We have been attending Oregon Shakespeare plays for many years. They are a high quality theater. AND they have a lot of plays that are just plain fun, not necessarily Shakespeare.

We went to see Richard III this summer at the Elizabethan outdoor theater. It was such a wonderful performance, and the theater is gorgeous. Would love to go again someday!

The Backstage tour is a must. The docents are actors in the various plays and provide great stories as well as the history and workings of the theaters.

The caliber of plays sets the standard. It is difficult to go to plays elsewhere after attending OSF - nothing measures up. What a treat.

First saw plays in Ashland with I was 10 years old. Been there most years since. Shakespeare performed so beautifully, now including modern plays, musicals, premiers, American history series ("All the Way" and "The Great Society" are fabulous - modern tragedies in the Shakespearean mold)....More
