Overall it was a good zoo. I wish that they had more attractions such as rides and maybe some more food options but overall it was very nice

While the zoo has ample space for waking and special events that are occasionally hosted, it's often at the price of small exhibits for the animals, especially for the large cats. Additionally many of the exhibits do not have appropriate activities for the animals to...More

This is a nice, well laid out, and well maintained small zoo. It has a fairly extensive reptile collection, lots of flamingos, and a group of giraffes which children can feed. Nice, clean, and modern facility, with a lake one can, weather permitting, paddle swan...More

We had so much fun, it's a small zoo but we loved it. My son loved feeding the giraffes and the fish. He also loved riding the little train. The kids also loved the splash pad and play ground next door. We went on a...More

Abilene has a really nice, small zoo. It's just the right size to keep a toddler entertained without getting overwhelmed. The giraffe exhibit has been recently redesigned and other exhibits are being renovated. It's worth a visit!

We have been to a lot of zoos throughout the state and also up into Canada. The recent changes bring even more natural environments and more is in the works. Frequent live music shows give a combination of a show along with the zoo critters...More

I was so disappointed in the zoo. These kids traveled over 4 hours round trip on a school bus to spend 2.5 hours looking at all small animals. The reptile enclosure was great but that's about it. There are quite a few birds but no...More

I am thinking of coming this Friday (Aug 21st) with my young 3 children--driving 90 min from San Angelo. But from what other reviewers are saying, it sounds like the giraffes may not be on view due to the construction of a new giraffe habitat? Is that the case? Also, what is the best time of day for viewing the animals during this hot weather? Thank you!

The giraffe's were not there last month, but I would call the zoo to be sure. We went in the morning and the temperature was comfortable, but definitely take some bottled water with you.
