We have lived in Texas most of our lives and have been to many national parks. We had just never wanted to visit Big Bend, but after a stay at Davis Mountains State Park, we realized we were only a few hours away, so we...More

Loved our trip to the Big Bend! We drove and hiked and drove and took pictures and learned a ton! It was a fantastic family adventure that we will never forget! We took a few thousand pictures and loved every minute of it!

I love this place. So much a use to live there! I love mountains and the desert is a unique biosphere. Now summer is HOT, but you often get an afternoon shower. You are miles from anything. Your more apt to NOT have cell service...More

Not too crowded. Brilliant views lots of Desert and mountains. Lots to see, especially the Rio Grande. Not as big as we imagined but very impressive. You could imagine the Indians waiting for the cowboys to enter the ravines. Only downside some of the other...More

Big Bend National Park is vast and wide open. While hiking desert trails my mind kept imagining what those centuries ago must have thought as they traversed the land. Without signs of civilization anywhere in view, it's easy to put yourself in their shoes. There...More

What a interesting place to visit. Lots of desert and mountains. Great hiking opportunities, but beware of the effects of the heat and elevation. Really enjoyed how uncrowded this national park is.

Although all of the National parks are great some are clearly better than others. The park is clearly in a place that is not on the way to anywhere so although easy to get to not convenient to anything other than the park. There are...More

Spend the morning there as early as you can when it's cool and much less crowded than the afternoon. Head to the centre, the Chisos basin and hike up any of the trails. Fabulous views and escape.

Definitely contact Panther Junction visitor center. When we visited last December we had 3 days at Bibe and wanted to do everything! The knowledgeable and courteous staff and volunteers helped us immensely.

Hi,I need ome help, please! We,my huband (and me ) will be in the US ,middle of November 2016. He will be attending a congres in San Antonio and we will be there for a week. Then we will rent a car and would like to do some sightseeing. We do love nature, are almost 70 years of age,and do have some, unfortunate, health issues. I do have SLE and he did have a knee replacement 4 weeks ago,but that will all be sorted out by November We also ,if possable, would not like to do more than 250-300 Km each day and we have app 10 days before coming home, also boarding in San Antonio, and overnight in San Antonio the night before returning home to South Africa. We thought of first going to the Big Bend Nat Park, then to up north to Amarillo, then back to San Antonio. We always try to keep away of the highways if possable Please,if you know the area, give us some pointers, where, what and how. Thank you so much. Izelle
