Excellent fishing lake. This is not a lake for water sports. Calm and laid back, typically pretty quiet. Only draw back is lack of parking at the marina.

This is a smaller lake not really good for large power motors but the fishing is great and the area is easy on the eyes. The public boat launch area is being redone and when it is finished it will be a really nice area to visit.

Water was a bit low, however still enjoyed boating on the lake. not too crowded, people are very friendly and want to help you find a good fishing spot. Talked to a lot of people.

This lake is one of the best little bass fishing lakes in Texas. In fact, not only is the bass fishing good, but crappie, white bass, catfish and carp are all good year round. I've been fishing Lake Athens for most of my life and I can truly say it's the best lake in Texas! My biggest bass so far... More

Lake Athens is a great lake to fish. The ramp is good and they have plenty of parking. There's good fishing for LM Bass, and it's got some of the biggest Red-eared Sunfish that I've ever landed.

We visited family at this lake...awesome! Beautiful! We were there on a 76 degree day in February. Such a nice reprieve from winter.

Beautiful country and wonderful lake. I want to live there! Lake wasn't as clear as I had expected. Because its spring fed, I had expected it to be very clear. Wonderful area.

Lake Athens is small - somewhere near 1800 acres but offers a lot of opportunity for fun on the water. It's clear spring-fed waters are usually calm and lend themselves to great fishing as well as water skiing and wake boarding. The lake gets a little crowded on holiday weekends but during the week it is pleasantly quiet. Lake Athens... More
