My pop knew Harry and they worked on things together a long time ago. The museum is stellar. Different collections show up frequently and they are always interesting. The collections are also great. A good place to get out of the heat and look at the past history of the world. The art is fantabulous

I love to go to the Harry Ransom Center. The exhibits are beautifully designed and provide information in different ways to make experiences really well worth the time spent there. The photography exhibits are especially sensational since the HRC houses one of the most extensive collections in the world, the Helmut Gernsheim collection and the Michael Dell Magnum collection. This... More

Check the shows first. Often, they are first rate. Easy parking and access. Surprising events have been held here. If you have not been, you really should go at least once to check it out.

While you're marveling at the spacious University of Texas campus, be sure to stop in at the HRC. They always have something interesting on display.

This museum offers a good assortment of exhibits throughout the year. It may be a bit troublesome to find parking at times (due to the close location and activity near the University of Texas), but definitely an art-inspired interest to anyone's imagination and wonder. A good variety of interests are covered and research well for the exhibits displayed which appeal... More

This is what is called a collections library. They have many things - "Gone with the Wind" costumes to the "First Photograph". You can't check things out, but there is a lot to see. The first floor is primarily a gallery, with exhibits from the collection, that usually display for 3 months. There is a theme, sometimes two, and everything... More

Gem of a museum even the entrance is a work of art on it's own. Make sure you ask for a guide on from the inside out. This was our third visit each exhibition being different. This years Elliott Erwitt was excellent. The guide who took us round was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. I would recommend that you get a tour... More

A lot of artistic bang for the space! A fantastic way to spend a smaller amount of time appreciating art. We got lucky and entered in time for guided explanation of some of the more famous pieces and that helped my teenagers to appreciate it more.

After being severely disappointed by the Blanton Museum of Art, we decided to visit the Harry Ransom Center. We were delighted by the photography exhibit and the kid friendly exhibits, which was great after the trauma of an exhibit (Goya, lots of violent war pictures at kids eye level) at the Blanton!

I am a member of the museum. As such I am invited to events, openings, etc. Each time, the events have been well conceived and organized. I've attended the display of Gone With The Wind artifacts, and an exhibit of Alice In Wonderland. The creation of the displays, the information that accompanies each display piece, and orderliness of the exhibits... More
