This is the activity hub! Food, music and even tourist shops. This is where you want to be if you came to Austin because of the music scene.

6th street seems to have about a thousand options for various bars. Pick your poison and have a great time!

Lots of pubs, lots of live and very good music, very happy people and a lot of stuff to drink :) . Go and visit Pete's piano bar and sing with the crowd, you will not regret this.

There are better bars and places to eat to the south east - food trucks and places with 'beer gardens'. Some blocks look seedy in the daytime and not particularly appealing at night. UT Austin campus area may be a better bet for music and...More

A must for the younger crowd at night. Doable for the business or tourist during the day. Glad I visited more than once to keep my weird.

Everyone said to go over to 6th street for music and partying. We went to the dueling piano bar and had a great time. On the way there lots of interesting scenery.

We like the Embassy Suites right on Congress. Get one of the suites on the upper floors if you have kids, it's worth the splurge! Walk across the street and watch the bats come out from under the bridge, then walk up to... More
