This is the area south of Congress (and also south of Colorado river), packed with curious shops, street performers, cafes, eateries, restaurants, etc. It's a great place to hang out and mix with locals.

I think there was a time this was a cool area but not so much now. As a first time visitor, no goose bumps for me.

Was a great afternoon walking around SoCo. Be sure to stop in the various stores. Some of the more 'touristy' ones have lines.. for example Torchy taco... but we had a blast. Allens is worth going in and looking around.

Getting to be more attractive to locals and out of town'ers. New places coming in and cleaning up a lot.

Area for shopping, eating and people-watching. Eclectic shops with interesting things to look at, restaurants with some nice outdoor seating areas to enjoy a drink or meal.

Fun to take a leisurely stroll through this area, stopping at shops that interest you. A number of interesting eating places too. If you like to walk, you can walk to this area from downtown, crossing over the river.

Wandered around the SoCo district on our recent visit to Austin and was really interesting seeing all of the graffiti/artwork/sculptures/different shops etc. Didn’t eat in any of the restaurants but did have a look in a few of the shops. The shops were very unique...More

Parking is very hard to find. You may have to park down the street and walk. If you are staying downtown, take a cab (I believe Uber is being discontinued in Austin). Getting there early in the day is better for parking... More
