Excellent music venue

Very nice, intimate music venue in the heart of UT campus. It's historical and legendary. If you're in the area, come check it out.

Got a last minute invite to go and what a great decision... Very much an Austin institution established in 1979 with great ceiling and the bar staff was fun. It is great settings on the UT campus and pretty private shows even sold out. No gimmicks, no fluff just good music like venues in Austin used to be. Be sure... More

Actually on the campus and a theatre with beer and wine served outside. My son loves live music but at age 16 can't get into a lot of the venues so this was a fun alternative.

On the UT campus in the student union, this bar venue hosted Jim Lauderdale. Great intimate location. Holds about 125 folks.

Cactus Cafe at UT is my probably most favorite music venue in Austin. The place is not too big, but that's just right: they don't often serve crowds with the pop-music scene. They serve quality music, sometimes a bit niche, to the people who can enjoy it. You can come for some local Austin/Texas star, or just listen to someone... More

Nice staff, nice venue for intimate show. Came in town for Carrie Rodriguez, and we loved it! Hoping for a reason to come back soon!

Inside the Student Union Bldg. Holds about 100 or so folks. Good bar inside. Come early and get in line and you can sit right up front at the artist's stage. Good acoustics and a mellow appreciative crowd. Check the line-ups and you can hear some fantastic music. In four days we saw David Lindley, Cheryl Wheeler, and Pat Donahue... More

Tucked into the Student Union building of University of Texas is a coffee/tea and alcohol serving bar that hosts musicians. Great concept! Good acoustics but everyone is packed in without tables. So font expect much ambiance. With no reserve seating, folks arrive almost 2 hours early to wait in line for front row seats of popular performers such as Ruthie... More

We were hoping to see a concert here and have something to eat. It is called a cafe. They don't serve food and the bartender was quite rude when he informed us that they were closed for sound check, even though the doors were open. We didn't bother with the concert.
