Hear some great music at a legendary spot

Chill spot for always live music. Heard Patrice Pike and band really put on a show. Beer was cold and service was good.

Cosy, friendly, great music venue. Wish Tommy Elskes played there more! Pizza available next door. Convenient to downtown.

Saxon Pub is a staple bar in Austin that gets really good bands. The night I was there we saw White Ghost Shivers, an eclectic band performing its own compositions rooted in American music from the 1920's-40's, great musicians all. Beer was $4.50 and drinks were $4.75. Some of the bands carry a $15 cover charge, some don't. Either way... More

Myself and 6 others heard about a great band playing at the Saxon Pub. We decided to check it out. It is a nice honky tonk type bar. Limited space for seating but definitely space for dancing. They also have a back room area which was perfect for being with the girls and able to chat while the music was... More

We paid $20 each for two advance tickets online, plus a $7 fee, so we were committed to seeing the 9:00 show on a Friday night. Since it was general admission seating we wanted to get there early. We finally got through all the traffic and arrived at Saxon Pub around 7 PM and found no place to park, even... More

Great dive venue with great bands and amazing sound. Smell of bar rot, smoke, and great vibes. Definitely encourage you to bring cash, however, as running a tab requires you to hand your credit card to the bartender and they keep. Not accusing anyone of anything, however, after running a $30 bar tab there we found out a 1/2 hour... More

Saxon is known for the music, and it will not disappoint! Live music every night of the week. Smallish place with stage right next to the bar. There is supposed to be a food truck service, but "the guy was not working" the night I was here. Decent selection of local craft brews. Good ambiance overall, but be sure to... More

Had a great time at Saxon Pub earlier this month. Stopped by for some music and a beer (or two) and really enjoyed it. Old, dark and very comfortable. Especially enjoyed John Gaar and his band.

This unassuming pub is a great place to come for some good music. A lot of the acts play for tips, so there is no cover charge. In our 12 days in Austin we came here 5 times! I also noted that it was on the Austin Music Tour route. Must be good and authentic.

I went to the Saxon Pub with Austin Detours and saw the fantastic Shelley King play. The place has a great atmosphere and a warm welcoming vibe. You would be comfortable on your own or in a group and are able to sit, have a drink and relax listening to the music. It seems to be a place where everybody... More
