Alta is TOPS

Never have been disappointed! Been going for over 25 years. A quick ride from the airport. Not a place for nightlife.

We were staying elsewhere, but had the City Pass from Salt Lake City, so we tried Alta. Fantastic skiing for anyone who likes the greens and blues. They don't allow snow boarding, so it's not chopped up.

Alta is a skiers only mountain, dedicated to those who really enjoy skiing. They have some of the most challenging terrain around, but also a nice variety so that everyone in the family can have fun. There are excellent intermediate runs on all parts of the mountain, so you don't need to leave less advanced skiers behind at the base.... More

Two words: No snowboarders. A mountain with morals! The snow was perfect, due to no snowboarders there to mess it up. The views were stunning. Parking was great. Perfect place.

1) Should allow snowboarders. 2) Employees uptight 3) Many snow enthusiasts uptight 4) Expensive, as compared to other western ski/snowboard options. I ski, and have not been to a resort where the employees were so uptight. Lift operators were great, on mountain help not so much. I had an older female Alta employee give me grief for filling out a... More

Had an epic day skiing at Alta. Definitely more of an advanced / expert mountain. Tons of bowls and a lot of fun!

Granted there wasn't much powder during our visit, it was still excellent skiing. As an east coast resident, the majority of my skiing is on chattery ice unless we get a powder day once or twice a season. We visited mid-March and the weather was warmer than usually. The mountain did a great job grooming and maintaining the terrain (even... More

Alta Sports Shop: It took 2 trips but Dave solved an unusual problem, noting that an unremovable wrong-length screw was used to anchor a strap on my boot. He wound up grinding part of it down and then expanding the shell somewhat. When the boot fits properly, nirvana!

Skiied here twice during the first week of March. Conditions were great. Very friendly lift operators. Love it that there are no snowboarders.

I love Alta for its wide open ski runs and beauty and love that there are no snowboarders. (Nothing against snowboarders, personally, but they have less predictable paths than skiers). It was a little warm this past February so the snow might have been a little mushy but still beat Seattle area resorts, any day! Love how friendly the people... More
