We moved to this area 13 years ago due to a job change. On our initial visit we came to Abingdon and saw a play. We were so impressed! I've seen plays in many large cities but am still amazed at the quality of the Barter Theater productions. I especially like their musicals.

The Barter Theater is a little gem!! The performance of Footloose was inspiring, entertaining, and of excellent quality. I would recommend a stop here when in town!

I treated my husband to a surprise date night here 2 weeks ago and we were shocked that we have been living less then 20 miles from The Barter. We have only lived Bristol for 3 years now, we will be relocating in a year, and it saddens me to know that we have been missing out on some of... More

I managed to go 26 years without seeing a play, and I'm glad my first time was at Barter Theatre. Everything, from the actors/actresses skills, the costumes and makeup, and the set, was just absolutely wonderful. These talented people made Shakespeare's Midsummer's Night Dream almost seem like reality. Thank you for showing such tremendous respect to one of my favourite... More

In tonight’s performance of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, the role of Bottom was portrayed with a larger than life performance. The actor showed total commitment to his role including an impromptu loud blast of flatlulence at a critical moment in the second act that engendered an uneasy audience reaction and some wrinkled noses in the first row. The thespian’s reverberations... More

Saw Mama Mia on closing night! The cast was energetic and the performance was well done. Love the ole style charm of the theater with the velvet wallpaper! Would like to see new seats, more comfortable and not so tightly packed! But all in all a lovely evening an I would recommend going for wonderful entertainment in an old style... More

The best repertoire closest to northeastern Tn. It's the longest running stage theater there is in the country. If you love musical shows like the ones in Broadway, pays between $*10-40 (*promotional rates), then this place is a must go-to if you happen to be around Abingdon.

It was my first time there last Friday, we had tickets with some friends. Fourth row in the balcony. I also saw the show off Broadway in New York, the cast especially Rose did a great job. Better than I expected Shout Out we will be back

This setting is really good. Very professional presentation. The theater is historic and somewhat intimate. I suspect most of their presentations are done well. The legroom is typical for any theater like this. All the staff was friendly and helpful.
