Wouldn't have expected to find this quality museum in this small of a town Well-curated exhibitions that also had info for younger visitors. Modern facilities in a historic building. Worth the trip up the hill, which has great views of the town and the mountains.

Fabulous collection of cultural heritage pieces from the region! A variety of fine art exhibits to enjoy. Beautiful historic facility and grounds - high on a hill overlooking the town and with a great view of the surrounding mountains. Educational and fun!

This museum has great art, especially local pieces. We haven't been here in a while, but when we were here it was great.

We did see two artists working intently, which was quite interesting, but the exhibits were a bit strange and did not have a very cohesive feel to them. It is as if there is no board of directors to set goals and a point of view for the museum, but instead takes what is available or possible for its exhibits.... More

If you are looking for a fun and different museum to visit the William King Museum of Art is a good choice. The recent exhibits include Viva Applacia - very interesting and diverse. Artist "Professor Mike Cline" shows off his talent in creating wonderful 'foam' sculptures including "Foamhenge" a take off on the famous Stonehenge. He also creates huge characters... More

Took my husband to Abingdon for the weekend. We stopped at the King Museum of Art to pass some time. It is located at the top of a hill just off the main drag in town. Amazing view! They have a interesting assortment of art, which made for a pleasant visit. We had the place to ourselves, which was nice.... More

The King museum is the former high school. It has rotating exhibits and is home to some resident artists. We had a great conversation with the resident sculptor who does some amazing work in terms of busts as well as a portrait artist whom we found very informative. The museum is worth a visit just to see their work space... More

This museum is in a former high school building. There are three different displays. On the first floor there are two small displays of some very nice pieces, mostly paintings. On the second floor there is a display of more modern art in multi media.
