Thanks for recognizing the value of our collections, ophitke38. We're very proud of our county and proud to be able to share its history with folks like you. And yes, we have a new building. We will be moving sometime this summer (2017).

We looked through all the war memorabilia in the front rooms of the building and then went outside to see the train car. We did not visit the Library portion.

The Historical Society located in the old train depot is a must visit if you are in Abingdon. The people are so friendly and the building with all it's contents are a great way to get your historical facts about the area.

We stopped in to look into some of our family history. The staff was very knowledgeable and more than willing to assist us with our research. They also had historical displays from the area.

Went in looking to do a little genealogy research and was treated extremely well by the staff. Despite its small apperance, there are alot of resources here. One of the most notable is their database of local photos and images.
