We spotted this attraction from the side of the road and decided to stop. It was really cool to walk around the old mill buildings. It would have been even cooler if we were able to see what it looked liked inside. It is a very quick stop to make as there isn't much to see after you walk through... More

This place is about 1 hour from DC and free of charge. Originally we intended to go on a drive to a park and take a hike, bringing our dog and a football and figured we'd walk past a historical Mill building, which would be a cute bonus. Our children groan when we say we are going on a day... More

As we strolled around the town of Aldie on a beautiful Saturday afternoon we had the opportunity to see the Old Mill in operation. While touring the mill we learned of the rich history of the mill and the surroundings.

Decided to stop and take a tour while heading toward Chrysalis Winery. Well worth the stop, the two guides were very informative as to the workings of the mill and the history of the area. They actually ran the mill and ground corn meal using the restored equipment that was installed in the mill.

I am so happy I stopped at the mill as a break from all the wineries I had been visiting. Bob, the volunteer guide, was very informative and guided me through the mill and outside to see the wheels. Mike the miller was another fount of knowledge and really knew how the mill ran. He even took time at the... More

We were driving by on the way home and saw the sign that said 'mill open' and 'grinding today'. Of course we pulled in! This old mill is well preserved! The guy that did our tour of the history was quite knowledgable! Excellent in fact! The guy that was running the mill (they were grinding corn for demonstration purposes) was... More

The first time I went was on a weekday, and despite every thing I saw about their opening hours saying they would be open that day, unfortunately, they were closed! The park itself and the structures are well maintained, and if you catch them when they're open, the tours are free!

I had never heard of this little town before the afternoon I was driving through it. I was on my way to the Salamander Resort in Woodbridge, but decided to take a few minutes in Aldie. My first stop was the Aldie Mill Historic Park, on route 50, which was established in 1810. Into the Aldie Mill I went. This... More

The mill was having an open house, so we stopped. It's an old-fashioned 1800s overshot water wheel mill. A knowledgeable docent guided us (a group of about 9) through the mill and then the miller ground a batch of corn while we watched, listened, smelled, and tasted. Very historical location during the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, a strategic pass through... More

Driving West on rural Rt. 50, the Aldie Mill is a charming place to stop and read about the history. Great place to stop and learn about the mill (is still working) and the history of the Battle of the Aldie. This should be added into a day trip of Middleburg.
