Mount Vernon trail is great to talk, run or bike! It has amazing views! It is also very safe! I run or bike it many times alone and have never had a negative experience in the 10 years I have trekked it

I love biking this trail along the Potomac River. It's scenic with beautiful views of the Washington Monument and the Capital Building, to name a few. The trails are well marked and maintained. They can be quite busy at times. Take advantage of the many...More

The cruise down the river was very informative. They also have drinks on board and an open top for your pleasure. Make sure to have good shoes on as this is a lot of walking.

Drove to Gravelly Point at DCA and biked to Old Town where we had a great lunch on the water. This is a well maintained asphalt path with a couple of nice wood deck bridges. It's heavily traveled by bicycle and running enthusiasts alike. Views...More

Told from the perspective from a long distance runner. You can easily run a marathon or ultramarathon on this trail. You can't get lost although it gets a little fuzzy when you get into Old Town Alexandria, but still easy enough to navigate. Most of...More

You can stay in Old Town Alexandria or in the Crystal City area. There are lots of choices of inns and hotels. Both are pretty close to the trail (just blocks.)
