Not only can visitors stand directly underneath planes during take-off or landing (depending on the wind direction), right at the north end of the main runway for Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, but they can also picnic or use the expanse of turf grass for any manner of athletic activity, or relax and enjoy the view of Washington, D.C.

Greta place to watch planes fly in and out of DCA. Also has some picnic tables, bathrooms (porta-potties) and a sports field situated right along the river. Definitely a great place to get outside for a while.

We visited during weekday afternoon, so easy access & parking. There are port-a-potties, a couple of picnic tables. Simply a small field & large parking lot to observe planes taking off. One less star because I thought we'd be much closer to the planes, but we were further away than expected.

For years, we have been taking our grandchildren here to run, play, and watch the planes land and take off....they are fascinated with it! Also, a great place for people to bike and walk along the Potomac....highly recommend!

GP has a very nice boat launch which is free to use. Two hardened ramps. Can be a bit shallow during very low tides but small boats offer little challenge. There is usually ample parking (although non trailer rubes often take up a whole double trailer space...). The one caveat is the hours - it's supposed to be open at... More

The planes for National Airport pass some 20 feet above your head as they land. This is a very popular viewing spot with a substantial parking lot and right on the George Washington bike trail. Take the kids on a sunny day and they will love it.

This is a great spot for a lazy afternoon. Lots of grassy areas to watch the planes land, have a picnic or toss a ball around. Dog-friendly too!

Grew up in the Washington DC area my entire life and have ALWAYS loved this place. I hadn't stopped by for years until this past Sunday and watched the planes land at sunset. It's just an amazing open setting and just watching those planes come in 1 behind the other is just fantastic. I will always love it!

This is a fun little park, just north of Reagan International Airport. It's connected to the Mt. Vernon Bike Trail that runs along the Patomic River and is easily accessible from George Washington Parkway. Weekends and evenings there are lots of people p[laying int he open field, but there's always room to lay in the grass and watch the planes... More

This is a fun spot for families and lovers and aeronautic enthusiasts to see the underbelly of roaring airplanes very close up. There are picnic tables, toilets and a lovely river there. An easy walk into the airport brings you to a tremendous variety of eating options.
