Nice hiking trail on east side of Kamakura

Use the free map of Kamakura and signs on the street to locate the trail heads. We hiked from Zuisenji to Kamakura-gu in a little over an hour. There are bathrooms mid way along the trail and (surprise) a large golf course and clubhouse complex. However the majority of the trail was out in the woods with no buildings visible.... More

This is a really beautiful trail around the north of Kamakura. I started at Zuisen-ji and ended up on the hill above Kencho-ji with the most amazing views over the city. The trail is mostly well signposted but I got a bit lost in the central section between the cafe and Mount Ohirayama and golf course. If you find yourself... More

Loved this walk around Kamakura, I started from at Kita-Kamakura Kenchoji and went to Kamakura, I did a few side tracks so I ended up hiking for 4-5 hours. It is clearly signposted and a great way to get some excerise as well as seeing temples and local Japan countryside. Good for relatively energetic families as well.

A great little trail (I would call it more a walking path) in Kamakura. It's very pretty in spring time, and the trail is well marked. It seems very popular with elderly and families with young kids. The trail itself is super easy, and can be completed in a couple of hours going at a slow pace. There are stone... More

From trail head to trail end, I think this path is less than 5 Km. Add to that walking from Kita Kamakura station and down to the bus stop after descending from the trail at Zuisenjil. The trail starts at Hansobo, above Kenchoji (where you have to pay entrance to the temple grounds of 300 yen), and is quite a... More

We started from Kenchoji Temple, a 15-minute from Kita-Kamakura Station, towards Zuisenji then past Tsurugaoka Hachimangu to Kamakura Station. The whole walk took around 2 hours. The trail of rocks and branches is not too difficult, some uphill but not too bad. It's pretty well sign-posted with pleasant views. There are some vending machines midpoint (food also available) but water... More

Views over the historic town centre, also out to sea and glimpses of Fuji. Cool and peaceful on a hot summer day, and several bits and pieces of history along the way (various passes, temples etc). You can do as much as you want, there are lots of routes up and down from the main path.

Ten-en hiking course (If you look up Kamakura Hiking Trails on Google, it may be listed as the Northern trail) It's pronounced Ten En, not Te-nen. This is a 6 km course, approx 2 hours if you take the bus for the final stretch, or 20 minutes more if you walk the entire course. If you like a moderately strenuous... More
