Between Ise and Toba cities in Mie you will find the Ise Skyline road (1250 yen for cars; note that it isn't open 24 hours). It is a scenic route that will take you through an area dotted with oyster farms and dozens of restaurants offering up grilled oysters; some of which are "all you can eat" and at least... More

We took a drive up here after the visit to the Ise Shrine. What a drive, what a view, what an experience, what fun!!!!! At one end, you get to see a paranomic view of the Ise Bay and on the other end, beautiful blue alps of Mie looking westwards towards Nara. The observatory comes with a footpath to walk... More

We were going from Toba to Ise Grand Shrine when the GPS brought us to use the Ise Skyline route. On a clear day, you can see the stretch of coast from Toba to Isuzu River and beyond. There is a free foot bath at one end of the observatory. The observatory has a shop and a small restaurant

The Ise-Shima Skyline Observatory has beautiful views, if it's good weather you can see for miles and miles ... it's rather quiet and peaceful, too! It can get extremely windy up there ... so hang on to your hat!

A short drive from Ise jingu on the hill top you find this natural hot spring where you can bathe your feet while looking out over the sea. A serene place to visit. Again, not well known to foreign tourists. A must see.
