We visited the site from Samaipata by taxi. Our guide spoke fairly good English, but he kept repeating the same things. Nonetheless it was worth it for the explanations. Most impressive are the views from the top. Just incredible!

The fortress of Samaipata was not as good as i expected. It is said to be the largest carved rock in the world. Unfortunately most of the interesting carvings are not really visible any more due to weathering. The main part of the carvings is...More

I don't feel like many know of Samaipata, but it is a World Heritage Site and spans 2300 years of existence and at least 3 different cultures. It is an impressive rock with sacred value and similarities to the Mayan and Incan ruins. The large...More

This place is beautiful, full of history, and will take you at least an hour to soak in. There are many guides that you can hire at the trailhead or you can take in the place on your own.

I am not a huge indian ruins fan, but if you are, this is your spot! I did enjoy the hike to the top of the mountain. It is also unique in that it is the center point of Bolivia and the 360 views are...More

The ruïns are pretty nice but the view is the great winner of this site. You walk around and are amazed at every turn. I would recommend to drive up and walk back to samaipata (2hrs). Take a swim at the river halfway!

Great place to visit, very special. The walk takes approx. 1 hour at slow pace, enjoy the views, they are quite stunning. Take a guide with you so they can tell you about the history behind the ruins, it's pretty interesting.
