Well worth going on a tour of this much-photographed, stand out attraction. Watch a show or concert if you can to experience the venue at its best. The (English speaking if needed) tour allows you to see the ballroom and possibly an example of a...More

If you are passing through Manaus you have to visit this place. Try to ensure there's a play the night you're there

Visited the theatre on a cruise ship excursion but it can easily be reached on foot from where the ship docks. We had a guided tour which was very interesting, as far as I could see the entrance fee included a guide and it was...More

This theater was built in the 1800's. We took a tour with an English speaking guide. A wonderful history and well maintained. The museum inside the theater tells a great story of the Manaus area and the history of the "rubber barons".

The Opera House is a very nice place to visit. They have an English speaking guide. There is a small gift shop and snack shop. Very nice and would recommend it as a nice tourist site.

You can't go to Manaus without visiting the Opera House - lots of history which developed from the rubber industry in the Amazon region. The building is wonderful, has been kept up well, and offers tours in various languages - for a few dollars. The...More

Mind you, I loved the Opera House and went there every night on our stay but such a building shouldn't be possible where it was built. Everything was shipped in from Europe at an extravagant cost - even the actor's clothing was washed in Europe!...More

The only type of ticket to visit it is the guided tour, for R$20, there's no option where you can visit by yourself. The only other option though is to get tickets to a concert, which I did and was worth it. I paid the...More

As other responders have said, you'll need to go to the theatre on arrival, or to the tourist information office on the opposite side of the theatre square. There are some free performances of music and drama. The free tour... More
