The main part of the museum is currently under construction and can not be visited. Just a small part is opened, but it's really worth a visit. @MAM: until when the construction is going? A hint on the Google page would be helpful for tourists.

Located on All Saints Bay waterfront in the center of Salvador. Great sunset views. Most Saturday nights there is a jazz jam that begins at sunset and goes until about 9:00-9:30pm. Inexpensive entry fee for jazz. Museum entrance is free

Saw two very different exhibitions here and both were excellent. I like the spaces and the pieces were well displayed and interpreted. Nice cafe next doo and also some ocean side space. Terrific.

Mid December 2016 still pretty much all rooms closed for remodeling... I would not call this a museum. Restaurant open. Pitty.

This place is a very historical place (slave first "welcoming" place arriving in Salvador). So has a very high symbolic and emotional charge. But it deserves a lot of investment more to be a remarquable place. And what a strange choice to put a MAM...More

There were limited exhibits and nothing interesting to look at. In fact we find the bay at the back more interesting. There were colorful houses outside and some youngster paddle boating. Not recommended
