An outstanding local history museum in an original "Carnegie Library". 3 floors of displays on everything from original settlers, to farming, lumbering, military, schools, and photography to explore. A section on the railroad history, and a whole train to see. And it's all free!

Nice old community - county Historical Museum - worth a visit to see what life in the northwoods was like for grandparent - and maybe a chat with one of the really dedicated volunteers. Interesting old settlers cabin available to look in and old steam engine like those that used to travel thru Antigo big time.

Nice little off the road train museum. My grandchildren loved it. There was a real locomotive that you could climb a few stairs up and stand on.

For being a small town, this cute little place is fun to visit for adults and kids! The kids love the train and seeing all of the "older" items inside the building. Everything from medical equipment, to school house items. And, it's free!

Lots of interesting historical stuff. The last time I was there, the granddaughter of one of the original settlers explained the items in the log cabin. Nice art exhibit, too. Antigo Visual Arts has an on-going art sale on site with changing exhibits/offerings by local artists.

Filled with lots and I mean lots of local history, many artifacts and lots of local history information. My wife's grandmother lived in Antigo and although my wife had visited the town many times over the years she really did not know a whole lot about the areas rich history. We make it a habit to visit local museums whenever... More

Antigo is a former railroad town with not a single active rail with 30 miles. Good collection of railroadiana but the all-volunteer staff is nothing beyond cordial, and you are best-served by a self-guided tour of this former Carnegie Library structure.

Even though I didn't see this, my dad and uncles visited this museum while we were all staying in Antigo. I wish I would have had time, especially when they all came back talking about it. They really enjoyed it and said it was well worth an hour or two of their day. I tell you, if my dad can... More

The historical society is in a beautiful old Carnegie Library building and the curator knows all about the colorful history of the county. There are a lot of pictures and exhibits. Antigo was once the last "large" town in the northwoods of Wisconsin and played a big part in the lumbering, tourism and bootlegging industries that developed in that part... More
