The Praca da Liberdade is a great place to walk or jog, additional all around the praca there are museums that are wonderful to visit. The praca is the hub of the historical part of the city. Belo Horizonte was created over 100 years ago as a planned city and the praca is the center of it.

A must see for its architecture, the square has beautiful palm trees and is surrounded by art deco buildings, accessible to the public, as most have been converted into museums of different types: historical, astronomical, gems and stones, modern exhibitions... Name it and you will find it there. The very peculiar Niemeyer building also integrates the ensemble.

It is very well taken care of (I wish all squares in BH were like this), surrounded by interesting buildings and art galleries, specially CCB, where one may also sip a coffee, a cold beer or a glass of wine.

It is amazing to see parks like these where people can commune and enjoy their time together. As a tourist, I really appreciate just watching and appreciating the colorful and beautiful mix of Brazil's people. Funny because we even saw a man taking a bath in that fountain. :P

We enjoyed visiting this square and the museums even though it is unsettling for Americans to see how many people live on the street.

It's a good place for a morning and evening walk. The whole round is about 500 meters, very easy to do. In the surroundings you can see the governor's palace, the planetarium and several museums of ancient and modern culture. Or you can just seat down, talk and have some popcorn or sweet cotton that that the vendors around the... More

There are many modern museums to visit at Praça da Liberdade. Take your time and enjoy every minute of it alone or with family anda friends. And you can have nice meals at the cafeterias too.

Praça da Liberdade (Liberty Square) is a must see place while you're in Belo. It's an unique Square in Belo which is surrounded by several historical buildings from the early dates.
